Details:
Empire green: this color evokes the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte on December 2, 1804 in Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Napoleon Bonaparte himself took the imperial crown (laurel wreath) from the hands of Pope Pius VII and placed it on his head. He then crowned his wife Josephine, who thus became empress. This scene is represented by Jacques-Louis David's painting The Coronation of Napoleon. Among the ancient Greeks and Romans, the custom had established itself to crown poets and victors with laurel. In the Middle Ages, too, distinguished scholars were crowned with laurels in universities.
